Il Davide in San Rafael

We had the miso sea bass, scallops, calamari and polenta and everything was cooked to perfection. Hat's off to the chef. Our waitress was personable and efficient, timing everything just right. We never had to ask for more tea or water and the seating was reasonably spacious and comfortable. It was a perfect meal we are hoping to repeat soon.

Service was excellent but I expected more in food quality. The shrimp scampi ($23) was spot on, but the Sea Bass special (about $40) did not make the mark. It was fairly bland. The accompanying bed of polenta was nicely done, and they have a decent wine list. I'd go back for a second try given the opportunity.

Ate here for the first time. Got their gnocchi, I'd say I've had better, but the prices are reasonable.

Ate here as a party of three...hadn't been here in a while and forgot how good the food is. We were there on a Saturday night and it was jammed so they put us in a table for 2. Great food, wonderful suggestions from the wait staff. They were so attentive. My water glass was never empty the entire meal. They even split the meals for us that we wanted to share.

Great food and service. We went early and got a table with a nice view. Parking lot is not far away. The menu is unique and also provides popular items.

I cant express how awesome and delicious this place was. The outdoor seating is very nice and everything we tried on the menu was delicious. We shared the burrata then we ordered the chicken parm - pic below - and a scallop dish. Fun atmosphere and a great choice for date night.

The Best food ever in California.

Marin County is fortunate to have a number of top-flight Italian restaurants, so it is difficult to pick one as being the best, but Il Davide is definitely on the short list. Very popular downtown San Rafael location conveniently located next to a parking garage. Friendly staff, delicious food reasonable prices. They cheerfully accommodate special requests for medical diets, vegans, etc. Weekend nights are busy so be sure to make reservations.

I visit this spot a lot since I work in the area. I like how their service is always excellent and they keep the place well kept consistently. Rates are fair and they serve sizeable portions.

Lots of hit-or-miss dishes are served with more misses than hits. Nothing is truly terrible, but nothing is really all that exciting, either, on a huge menu that features a number of repetitive ingredients. The host needs to seriously consider a new line of work, as it's utterly baffling to be approached by a customer in a near empty restaurant and then duck away to take a phone call instead of seating the patron...and all of this occurred after the patron had patiently waited a couple of minutes for the host to appear in the first place.

Had our Christmas party there last night, the food was pretty darn good better than last year. And the place was packed...

This restaurant is nice and broad, the menu was enchanting and the rates were very affordable. rapidly, effective service and very friendly waiters. Will definitely recommend this spot.

Beautiful restaurant and kind staff. I wish they had more vegan options though. I actually skipped meeting friends there recently because there just isn’t much to choose from.

Wish I could give it 4.5. Ate here twice in one month. First visit the food and service was five stars. Second time food wasn't quite as good and our waitress was not very friendly or attentive. Very unfortunate.

Good Italian food thats more modern than you'll find in a place with a red and white checked tablecloth sporting Chianti in a woven basket. There's some street parking and a parking garage behind the business.

Fantastic dining experience at Il Davide on the 4th of July. The outdoor seating was cozy and romantic, the servers were warm, friendly, and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the carpaccio di manzo, salad il davide, and due ravioli - all prepared to perfection, flavorful, and fulfilling. We then shared the chocolate brownie sundae and a Fonseca port, which ended the meal perfectly. As we left the owner check-in with us and ensured we had an excellent experience, which we did!

We had a wonderful meal here last night. The quality of what comes out from the kitchen is top notch. The wine list is very well curated and the bottle Nick helped us to decide on paired beautifully with our dishes. We continue to travel through various regions of Italy and it is a delight to be able to experience a genuine expression of the cuisine back here in the bay area. Unfortunately they don't have a San Francisco outpost.

They serve large portions and for fair pricing. welcoming employees. Kudos.

We had our dinner delivered this evening and it was one of the best during quarantine! The gnocchi with short rib ragu was outstanding! Our meal was delivered on time by Cesare with a grateful smile! We will order again soon!

EVERYTHING was exceptional. My brother took me for my birthday and we are obsessively picky. I lived in Italy for over 35 years and I've never tasted a better Gnocchi with Ragù. The desserts were all heavenly. I made myself stop eating so I could bring some home and repeat the experience in the privacy of own home! Lol. Bravi!
